![]() ![]() Idea 1: Edit area for embedded preamble information is in a separate tab in the TexText window. In most cases users are satisfied with current situation (local preamble file). User needs to decide whether to use embedded preamble information or local preamble file. Nevertheless, I do favor this approach.Įmbedded preamble information needs to be editable in TexText window. For the user this looks like if the information is lost. Disadvantage: If one copies a TexText node from one Inskcape document to another one the preamble information will not be copied as far as I do see. Advantage: It is consistent to have the preamble information for the complete document. Idea 2: Embed the information in the svg root of the document. Disadvantage: It is really uncomfortable to fiddle around with all the preamble information distributed on several nodes. Advantage: If one copies the node from one Inkscape document to another one the preamble information is copied, too. Idea 1: Embed the information on a per node basis. Proposal: Embed the preamble information in the Inkscape file or in the TexText nodes so one needs not to take care on the local preamble files on the different machines. “Embedded preamble information”: Content of preamble file in some way included in Inkscape document.Ĭurrent situation: If someone moves an Inkscape file containing TexText nodes to another computer compilation of the nodes might fail on this machine during re-editing if the preamble files on both machines do not match. It is just a first draft to fix some ideas and might be a starting point to define a real concept about what has to be done.ĭefinition: “Local preamble file”: Preamble file residing on the machine Inkscape is running, i.e. the topic of embedding the preamble in an Inkscape document. I may get to it once we finish with current tasks. The change should not affect people who does not use this feature. Backward/forward compatibility issues should be carefully analyzed. ![]() And we need to support Tk as well (sigh).Īlso we should provide option to edit embedded preamble before node generation.įrom that point there would be two kinds of nodes: with and without embedded preamble. UI should not grow too much, since most of users are satisfied (i guess) with minimal interface. Say we have "preamble_text" parameter embedded in nodes. Node may contain full preamble text used to generate preamble is not limited to packages, it may contain arbitrary stuff, so we need to store it as is. It's not a bad idea, but we need to address several issues to handle it properly. It would be similar to what inkscape does for image links. It has no internet.I had in mind adding extra preamble parameters such as "preamble path relative to svg", "preamble absolute path". To use old working systems easily I have kept alive a separate WinXP machine. In 64 bit Windows MTExtra is not noticed by Inkscape. That font must be available where the enhaced metafile is used. It doesn't start with any compatibility settings.ĮQNEDIT uses font MTExtra.ttf as the formula building blocks. No use to try to run EQNEDIT in 64 bit Windows. From it the formula is copyable to the clipboard as EMF, which is a vector format. From very old Word one can easily extract separately runnable EQNEDIT.EXE. From recent Word the formulas are exportable as bitmaps.I have taken high zoom screen captures. They are based on Microsoft stuff that are far from the available control in TeX. Fortunately the need is only occasional.įor occasional needs of formulas I have 2 workarounds. This has actually zeroed my possiblities to prepare full scientific presentations in Inkscape. Unfortunately I have no documents of succesful installations for Inkscape 0.92 in recent Windows. There's old documents on how to get TeXtext inserted to Inkscape in Win7 machine. LaTeX distribution package, for example MikTex.pstoedit (=vector drawing format converter).GsViewer (= graphical user interface for Ghostscript).Ghostscript (=postscript language clone).Textext is useless if it can't find the following installed before to your computer: In addition some environment variables must be set manually to make the software working together. A bunch of sotware must be found on your computer.
